St. Rose of Lima

The first canonized saint of the Americas, St. Rose was born in 1586 and died August 24 (or 30), 1617.  She was a recluse and mystic who lived her whole life in Lima.  A Dominican tertiary, she is remembered for her dedication to prayer, rigorous ascetic practices and works of charity.  She was canonized in 1671.  Her feast day is August 23.

St. Juan Diego

A native of Mexico, born in 1474, Juan Diego is the first Roman Cathlic indigenous saint from the Americas.

The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego on four separate occasions in December 1531.

He was canonized on July 31, 2002 by Pope John Paul II at the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City.  His feast day is December 9.

St. Peter Claver

Peter Claver was a Spanish Jesuit missionary who vosed to be forever a "slave" to his black brothers and sisters. He served in Columbia, South America, in the 17th century and is revered for his work among the black peoples.  â€‹
